Windows 95 is a true 32-bit operating system, as most people would define a 32-bit operating system… Small parts of the operating system are written in
16-bit, for legacy reasons 16-bit Windows apps share the same memory space and during bootup you will see DOS loading, but that is the extent that Windows 95 appears
(only appears) to be 16-bit. The DOS segmented memory environment is completely unloaded and replaced with the flat memory model during bootup, so the unsupported propaganda line that Windows 95 is
a“thing on a thing” is just that--unsupported. More about windows 95 memory on page 9.

Defrag Scandisk- This should be done at least once a week to help keep everything in order even if Windows 95 says you don't have to, do it anyway. Run Scandisk if you ever have a error message and or have to reboot because of problems. Click on "My Computer" then right click on "C:" (or any drive you need to check) then "Properties", then "Tools". Also check your fragmentation after coming off of the internet. Bet you its around 1-3%!

Resize- The little boxes in the top-right corner of every window (the ones that minimize, restore, and close a window?) Right-Click the Desktop and choose Properties Now click the Appearance tab, and under Items, scroll up and select Caption Buttons. Click the up arrow next to Size, click Okay

Right Mouse Button- When dragging and dropping any file, always use the right mouse button. This will give you a prompt so you can cancel, or choose an alternate operation other than the windows default. (copy, move, etc.)

Print Screen (Button)- To print the screen, press your Print Screen (PrtSc) button. Then open Microsoft Paint, select Edit, Paste, and print your screen.

Delete files-
Without sending them to the recycle bin, select the file or files to be deleted, hold the Shift key down while selecting Delete.

Easter Eggs- Windows 95 has a hidden Easter Egg that presents a little display of the people who made Windows95. Right-click on the Desktop and select New Folder. You’ll have to rename the folder three times to see this Egg: first right click and rename it "and now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for" -- then right click and name it "we proudly present for your viewing pleasure" -- then right click again and name it "The Microsoft Windows 95 Product Team!" Now double-click on the folder. TA DA!

Key Board Short cuts- Windows 95 has built-in support for the Microsoft Natural Keyboard, using the special keys as follows:
WIN + R = Display the Run dialog box.
WIN + M = Minimize all windows currently open.
WIN + Shift + M = Undo Minimize all windows
WIN + F1 = Start Help
WIN + E = Start Explorer
WIN + F = Start Find Files/Folders dialog box.
CNTL+ WIN + F = Start Find Computer dialog box.
WIN + TAB = Cycle through taskbar buttons.
WIN + BREAK = Display Systems Properties panel.

Leaving your computer on- Or turn it off, So – what to do? If your PC
is needed to receive faxes or to be available to you or other PC or mobile
laptop users, around the clock, then of course it must be on 24 hours per day. And it can run for years this way with out harm; but I would turn the monitor off to save electricity. Otherwise – turn it off when you are through for the day; and turn off the monitor if you will be away for 30 minutes or more (no hard rule, just my thoughts).

Recycle bin- By default the size of this is 10% (of your hard drive) on a 2 gig HD that's 200 megs. But you can change the default size to something smaller,(I use 2%) by right clicking on recycle bin-properties, there you will find your options. When your recycle bin is full and you continue to add to it Windows empties it automatically
