- To add or customize OEM (original equipment manufacturer) information to the system properties sheet, edit (or create) the file c:\windows\system\oeminfo.ini. It should at least contain the following lines:
[general]
Manufacturer= Enter your company or your name here
Model= Enter a model number here if you want.*
[support information]
Line1 = This section will add a button called "Support Information"
Line2= Enter line(s) here to put in the Support Information dialog box.
Line3= Add as many as you need, or omit this section if you'd like.
*You can leave any of these parameters blank if you wish like this:
Model= or put anything you want to
To create the logo, create a bitmap named oemlogo.bmp in the c:\windows\system\ folder no larger than 175 x 100 pixels. The lower-left pixel will define the bitmap's background color. Windows will change the background color of your bitmap to match the Window background color. Keep in mind that Windows will display the bitmap in 16 colors if you are running in 16 or 256 colors.
If you're using either 16-bit or 32-bit color mode, then Windows will display the bitmap in 256 or more colors. Use a standard 16-color bitmap if you want to make sure that it will display correctly in all color depths. To test your new info, right-click on My Computer and select Properties. (Or hold down the Windows key and press the Pause|Break key.)
