Free Font Smoothing- Plus Display Enhancements. Microsoft Plus! offers
3 different display enhancements: Full Window Drag, Font Smoothing, and
Wallpaper Stretching. To enable these display enhancements without buying
Microsoft Plus!, download and run the free Microsoft utility w95gray.exe
(170k), which is available at the Microsoft® Typography web site. This will
add a Plus! tab to the display properties, which will have a check boxes to
enable the display enhancements and an easy way to change your desktop icons.
Changing Windows Wallpaper- Don’t tolerate that stale appearance;
Customize it to fit your lifestyle. Right click on a blank area of the desk to
and click on PROPERTIES. The resulting Display window will provide the
vehicle to change your wallpaper, colors, screen saver, etc.
Shut down screens- Changing There are two files in the /Windows directory, both are 320 x 400 bitmaps. LOGOW.SYS is the "Wait while Shutting down...." screen. LOGOS.SYS is the "You may now shut...." screen. You can edit these files or create your own, they just have to be 320 x 400 bitmaps. You can do this in paint or any graphics program.
